Calgary continues to be one of Canada's economic hot spots. Since 1992, the city's economy has grown 46%, an average of almost 5% per year. As Canada's energy capital and Western Canada's business capital, Calgary is now home to the second largest concentration of corporate head offices in the nation.
Calgary Economic Development has been working hard for more than two years to market our competitive advantages and Calgary's pro-business climate around the world.
CED is providing new leadership and a new direction for economic development activities. Working with stakeholders from business, the community and government, CED aims to to capitalize on Calgary's abundant energy and entrepreneurial spirit to facilitate sustainable economic growth.
Right now, CED is actively pursuing clients that have the potential to create over 1,700 new jobs and occupy over one million square feet of commercial and industrial development.
Cameron Strategy, working with CED have developed a multiphase Stakeholder Perceptions and Customer Satisfaction Baseline Study. The purpose of the study is to better understand the Calgary's business community perspective on economic development and identify their specific needs. The information gathered will help CED focus on developing improved and enhanced services to address the economic development challenges of the Calgary region, and assist Calgary businesses grow and promote sustainable prosperity. Ultimately, the research program will help ensure that Calgary continues to be a great location to live, work and do business.
