Gaming has experienced dramatic growth in many jurisdictions
throughout North America over the past decade. The province of Alberta
is no exception. In fact, since 1991 net revenues derived from gaming
have grown by over 300% in Alberta - from $235 million to more than $1
billion.
Cameron Strategy has worked with the Alberta Gaming and
Liquor Commission on a range of research projects including an
extensive and highly sensitive Licensing Policy Review, which included
stakeholder interviews throughout Alberta.
Our gaming and public policy expertise was applied in
assisting AGLC with the licensing policy review. The overall aim of
the research was to obtain the assistance and involvement of
stakeholders including the public, charities, industry players, social
agencies and government. A secondary aim was to create a process of
systematic ongoing and open consultation between the AGLC and various
stakeholder groups.
Cameron Strategy worked closely with one of our partners,
Knowledge Navigators, to integrate primary and secondary data through
an information audit, telephone interviews and facilitated group
discussions. The information audit included a thorough literature
review and analysis of gaming policy and procedures in Alberta and
other jurisdictions.
The insights from this project have helped the AGLC
formulate a comprehensive policy while strengthening its ties and
creating more open lines of communication with key stakeholders.
