Bruce Cameron
pic First dollar he ever made... "My older brother gave me a dollar when I learned to tie my own shoes."

Attracted to positions of responsibility... Hockey goaltender, the Drum Major of Queens University marching band, sent to open the Angus Reid Calgary office and served as Executive Vice President, is the head of Cameron Strategy, rock band drummer, father and husband.

Why he started his own company... "It was time to put my own ideas into action. I saw all these opportunities that weren't being realized. It struck me that large research organizations get caught up in producing something rather than looking beyond the obvious. In the drive for growth, they can also lose the sense of fun that drives people to do good work."

Proof he's a blue-blooded Toronto Maple Leafs fan... owns an official share certificate from Maple Leaf Garden (signed by Harold Ballard); his earliest childhood memory was of cheering for Dave Keon (last time they won the cup in 1967); his ability to persevere, never give up and always keep the faith.

What he's learned over the years... "People don't necessarily want more information. They want someone to make sense of the information they already have."

Valuables hidden in a tiny box under the bed... a collection of vintage metal tabletop hockey players which he hand painted as a kid to represent classic teams from the '60s and '70s.

Coolest thing he's ever done... "Traveling to the Middle East and seeing what things are really like. The amazing history and culture is a treasure the whole world should see."

Why people love working with (or for) Cameron Strategy... "We can have fun finding things out and helping our clients succeed at the same time."

Giving something back... Bruce lives for the Calgary Folk Music Festival, serving as a marketing/public affairs consultant, and has sat as a board member. The company does pro-bono research work for the Calgary Folk Festival, The Calgary International Film Festival and the Calgary Global Fest. Bruce has previously been a board member for The Canadian Tourism Commission Research Committee and the Calgary Waldorf School.
